- Use a cleaning product: You can go to the store and buy a long-term treatment product for mold. This is one of the most common ways to prevent mold from growing.
- Apply zinc or copper strips to your roof: Zinc and copper contain natural minerals that fight old growth and kill organic compounds that lead to mold and algae. To apply the zinc and copper strips, you can slip them under the shingles at the top ridge and leave the metal partially exposed.
